She did it!

Today was a BIG day at our house.  Kayla ran her first 5k this afternoon.  We have been training for it since August and she did fabulous!  She had to stop once at about the 1/2 mile mark to adjust her sock that slid down her heel but other than that she never walked.  It was raining for the first part of the race but we weren't letting that stop us.  She has trained too hard!  She finished in 34:40 and then decided to run the 1 mile fun run and finished in 9:13:)  She didn't want me to run it with her so I let her run it alone.  She LOVED running today and I think we might just have a runner on our hands.  Having a running buddy is fun:)

Food

I have a love/hate relationship with food. I've gotten SO off track with my eating...it happened slowly and now I just can't seem to get back on track!  I'm up like 2 pounds on the scale and it makes me absolutely sick and I feel like a big fat cow!  I've been in that cycle where you overeat and get mad at yourself so you eat something else bad for you to feel better...yeah...that really works!  I don't overeat at one time.  I don't eat big meals.  I snack...all...day....long...and it isn't healthy snacks.  Confession time...I ate THREE packs of pb crackers for breakfast...THREE of them...what in the world??!!  They have absolutely NO nutritional value so of course I was still starving after every single pack.   I'm down, discouraged, depressed,...ugh...I have GOT to snap out of this or the number on the scale is going to creep WAY up and I'm going to hate myself for it!

Acacia Necklaces

I am fundraising for my mission trip and for every $20 donation you make you receive an Acacia necklace.  These necklaces are handmade by widows and orphans in Africa.  Not only do you help me go on my mission trip but you also help by supporting the people who made the necklaces:)  Please let me know if you are interested.  I have a variety of colors available, red, yellow, black, brown, pink, green, purple and blue solid necklaces and multi colored necklaces as well.  The top picture is me wearing the bright multi and the one below is the red.  I will be happy to ship them to you for $2 extra a necklace.  Thanks!!!!
(Someone couldn't stay out of my picture, lol!)

A dream come true....

If you have read my blog for any length of time you know that I have a heart for orphans.  I have the amazing opportunity to go on a mission trip with Visiting Orphans to Ecuador this summer and am asking you to prayerfully consider supporting me in this opportunity.  The only thing holding me back from going on the trip was finances and I decided to step out in faith and let God provide:)  I am SO excited and cannot wait to go love on the precious children of Ecuador.

OUCH!

I gracefully fell over a curb on this mornings run...along one of the busiest roads I could possibly fall on!  It happened in slow motion and I couldn't stop myself:(  The worst part isn't even this it is my hand but you can't see the cuts in pictures.  I have tiny cuts in my left hand and they burn like crazy....ugh.  I am so thankful that is was during my last mile...I got up ran for a second then stopped and walked for about a tenth of a mile and ran the rest of the way home.  Oh well, I know of plenty of other runners who have fallen at some point during their running career and this was my first time...I hope it is my last!

I think I am going to give myself the boring award:)

I have had "blogger block" for a while now.  I really don't know what to write about.  It is the same ol' same ol' around here.  Running, working out, obsessing over the scale...rushing kids here and there and having a messy house despite really wanting it to be "perfect".
Hayden's Birthday was quite memorable this year.  Last Thursday the poor child woke up with a stomach virus on his 5th birthday:(  He has been excited for months and then this happened.  It was AWFUL!  Praise God it only lasted 12 hours and then it was out of this house and no one else got it.  We celebrated his birthday with a few of his friends and family at Chuck-E-Cheese on Saturday night and he had a BLAST!

Well, I hope you all are having a good week.  The ragweed is killing me and I can't breathe while running so it is making training for my 2nd half marathon an adventure.  The fall air seems to have hit today and it is FREEZING to me outside...brrr!

Finally....

I FINALLY saw 149 on the scale today:)  Confession time...I had gained up to 152 over the past month after our beach trip and had gotten the 2 pounds off and now have lost down to 149:)  I officially start training for my 2nd half marathon tomorrow:)  I hope the weight loss continues....12 lbs until goal weight.  I'm ok with a slow loss as long as it is a loss!!!!

Soccer, Outback,3rd Grade & Running

The first practices of this soccer season were this past Saturday.

Hayden's practice was at 9:00

and Kayla's HOT practice was at 11:00

After practice we went to UAB in Birmingham to visit my best friend and her newborn baby:)  After the visit we ate dinner at Outback....yummy!  I pigged out on the bloomin' onion and Alice Springs Chicken and tried not to think about how many calories I consumed!   Yeah, I am doing GREAT at maintaining my weight....I want to LOSE more weight but can't seem to be disciplined enough to do it!

Me and Hayden at Outback(cellphone pic)

Me and Kayla at Outback (another cellphone pic)

Kayla started 3rd grade this week and is LOVING it:)

Kayla Monday morning before school.

Kayla and I after her first training run for her 1st 5k.  Her school is doing a 5k fundraiser in November and she has been wanting to do a 5k so it will be perfect for her first one!  Now if I can just survive her training runs and my training runs for my 2nd half marathon in November!  My legs might fall off!

Summer's Ending....

I can't believe school starts back Monday.  It seems like it just ended.  We have had a GREAT summer but I will admit I can't wait for long sleeve t's and jeans...oh how I LOVE jeans!

Our summer has been full of trips to Point Mallard

Beach Trip to my Mom's in Gulf Shores
 Vacation Bible School
Many Lake Weekends

and last week was spent on our annual trip with my Dad to Seaside, FL:)

Oh how we will miss lazy days, sleeping late, staying up late, the ice cream truck, and Wednesday trips to the library.  Goodbye summer....we will miss you!
